Starting an online business does not have to be overwhelming or difficult, but it can be if you try to do it all on your own.
The first mistake that I see newbie mompreneurs making is trying to do it all themselves. Trying to figure out the perfect business, how to set it up, creating their own websites, etc, etc. I know money can be tight at times but it's important to seek help in areas where you don't have the expertise, or just don't have the time.
Leave your time open for creating versus pulling your hair out trying to figure out why your website doesn't work and figuring out why your auto-responder just sent out 10 emails in one day. There are so many virtual assistants available at all price ranges that are willing and available to help you.
The point is at this point is to keep moving forward instead being held back. Let go of being a perfectionist at this point.
Secondly, I believe it is important to have a mentor or coach to assist you on what the next step is. Sometimes you just get in your own way and you need someone to say STOP, do this, it's a much more direct and simpler path to go. Isn't that what we all want, an easier more direct path to success?
If you've read my story, you understand that I didn't always have money, but there were certain areas in my life and business that I needed assistance and I recognized that. I came up with some creative ways to get the help that I needed while helping others. Word of caution here, if you trade "help" just make sure you have set standards. You can get in the mode of "trading" and never make any money and that isn't good for anyone.
Hours spent in front of the computer listening to video after video, reading ever-ending articles to tell you what to do next can get tiring and frustrating. Not to mention some of the MLM companies out there that you have you on the phone for hours on end prospecting. There is a better way!
Let me help you with a few more tips that will help you:
Do something that aligns with who you are and what you enjoy doing
Create a vision statement for your company: Always know what it is you are out to do, this will keep you on track
Write down your WHY: This is your driving force and will help you when challenges arise.
Set realistic goals for yourself
Create a schedule based around your families needs as well as yours and make sure it's flexible
Celebrate your small successes as well as the larger ones
If you can't afford to have someone help you, see if a girlfriend or family member would help out in some of the areas you are lacking or struggling. People enjoy giving to others.
Pick two to three mentors and choose 1 or 2 things they do that you would like to incorporate into your business, don't copy them but take the idea and add your twist on it.
Always remember that family comes first.
Working from home can be very gratifying and enjoyable if you just reach out and seek a helping hand from others. Sometimes you can even get the family involved making it a fabulous way to bring the family closer together and perhaps add more creativity into your business that you hadn't expected before.
